After documenting hundreds of architectural features, plants, changing foliage, seasonal light and the 360 degree views from the windows and porch she set out to create art that could feel at home here. When the Lombardi family invited Julia to create this body of work for the 3rd floor of their spectacular home, it was thrilling for her to meander each room and make notes, photographs, and sketches. Having no idea one existed in reality, she was awestruck when walking along the Croton Aqueduct trail in 2019 shecame upon the house peeking through the trees. Many years ago, Julia dreamt about a pink octagonal house and it was such a vivid dream she never forgot that vision. Every element of these framed works on paper was inspired by the Armour-Stiner Octagon House and surrounding gardens. ![]() ![]() ![]() I heard his voice in his letters and in our discussions in the margins of his typescripts. Abrams has transferred his pattern of breaking conventions in the world of screens to the literary “analog” world by collaborating with author Doug Dorst on this interactive novel where two characters carry on a conversation through the margins of a book. Is it because those remnants are the self-revelation of a person we’ll most likely never meet? Even if their palimpsests manage to blow our mind more than the author’s words, that person stays just as distant to us as any revered dead writer.īy a simple addition of another margin scribbler, the 2013 novel S closes that distance. Senseless underlining of unremarkable sentences, pedantic notes, and even doodles act as silently screaming billboards on the wide- open spaces of our imagination as we try to interact in a uniquely personal way with the book. ![]() We’ve all come across books marked up by some fiend with no appreciation for the sanctity of the written word. ![]() ![]() ![]() Welcome to a milestone episode of “Along The Way”! To my surprise the Templar Knights still around and still defend the Catholic way of life. I thought that the Templer Knights was some historical group that fought in the crusades and was disbanded by the church and would later be part of freemason folk lore. ![]() ![]() ![]() Yes, it is similar to Golden Dynasty by KA but only in a superficial sense. I needed something with a touch of fantasy and romance. It was a good, quick read, I would recommend as I’ve enjoyed it. I guess I can chalk it up to him being ignorant of the fact that foreigners didn’t know much about Dakkar. I get that if he explained stuff there would be no book - but still. Last time I wasn’t as taken with him (I kinda wanted to punch him for the audacity) but now (I still wanna punch him on principle) I’m swayed by pretty words he says - though his actions are shitty at times.Īlso, can I just ask - how do you expect to live with someone and marry them - be forever with them if you don’t speak to them and explain why you do certain things or why your culture is a certain way. Reading it with more knowledge of the world in which is set and knowing what the Dakkari words the hero says mean- is clearly a different experience. Just wanted a refresher of the first book since I’ve read the second about 3 times but I forgot most of the story from this one. ![]() |
